BUILD YOUR OWN WEB SITEWork-At-Home-Business Home Page Beginner's Page This will teach you how to obtain your own domain and web site....even if you have no web design experience. Follow the steps below: 1. PURCHASE/REGISTER YOUR OWN DOMAIN NAME Get your domain name for $8.88 or less per year at http://www.register-DOT.com 2. HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR DOMAIN NAME When you choose your domain name, you must search for availability. Find a name that has keywords associated with home businesses. Of course, business.com, homebusiness.com, workathome.com won't be available. Try to be creative and use other keywords that may be searched when people are looking to start a home business. Throw in numbers at the beginning or end, throw in dashes, or the letter A at the beginning of your domain name. Don't hesitate getting a .net, .biz, .us, if you cannot find an available .com. 3. DOWNLOAD A FREE WEB SITE TEMPLATE Download a free SFI web site template located at http://www.sfiteam.com/Downloads/ (only if you are building a site to promote your SFI business). Alternatively, you may find a great template at the following: http://www.freewebtemplates.com http://www.freesitetemplates.com 4. DOWNLOAD A FREE HTML EDITOR http://tucows.mundofree.com/htmledit95.html With these editors, you will be able to perform the minor revisions to the SFI template that are required. \ (Most of these editors are Free for 30 days, so you won't need it for more than a few days unless you want to purchase for future web sites you may create.) 5. ADD YOUR AFFILIATE ID TO THE SFI WEB SITE TEMPLATE Open up your new HTML Editor…then open up the index.html page of your SFI template. When you open the SFI template, you will be at the EDIT page. Here you will need to replace the following: http://www.yourgateway.com/xxxxxx.kc with your SFI gateway URL. The kc is optional and stands for keycode. It is a tracking mechanism where you can assign any code you want. When to start receiving affiliates, the keycode will be displayed so you know what site your affiliate joined from. NOTE: This is the only editing or web design that is required if you download an SFI template. If you are experienced with HTML or web design, you may ad or change anything you want. OPTIONAL: Your SFI template is somewhat Meta Tag optimized for the search engines,but if you would like additional tips on search engine optimization, shoot me an email. 6. CHOOSE A WEB HOSTING SERVICE 1-website-hosting.com is a good directory of hosting companies. Be careful to not choose your hosting company because it is the cheapest. You get what you pay for. Cheaper hosting companies usually have more problems with there servers resulting in greater downtime, i.e., your site will be inaccesible. 7. DOWNLOAD FREE FTP PUBLISHING SOFTWARE A good, Free FTP uploader to publish your site is http://www.corbanware.com/ftpworks.html. If you need additional assistance publishing your site, you can contact me for assistance, or contact your hosting company. You will be guided step by step on how to get your site published. It's pretty simple once you've done it once. 8. START MARKETING After your site is published, go back to the beginner's section and market your new, personally owned web site.
