Why Even Build a Web Site?
You'd be surprised how many people have emailed me over the last several months asking me just this question! They ask, "Why build a web site when I can just advertise in newspaper classifieds and online at pay per click search engines?".
True, you can use traditional forms of advertising for your product , services or opportunity, but you are missing out on SO much if you don't build a site! Below I'll list several reasons why I think it's important to build your own web site:
1. It Makes You Legitimate
That's right! If you spend the time and energy to build a web site you suddenly earn a new respect and become legitimate to others. You are no longer that anonymous affiliate using the same gateway site as thousands of others trying to sell your product. Visitors will see that you really care about what you do and what you're selling and will respect you more.
2. Search Engines Will Take You Seriously
Do you like the sounds of free traffic to your web site? I bet you do! There are dozens of search engines that are willing and able to pick up your site in a breath if you've spent the time to build one! Remember that old gateway affiliate web site? Search engines do NOT like them and will rarely add you to their search results.
By building a site and optimizing it for search engines you can receive literally thousands of free visitors every day who are already interested in what you have to offer! What would you rather? Pay for people to visit your site, or receive free traffic from the search engines?
3. The Key: Return Visitors!
Would you like to know the real secret to success with business whether online or offline? It's called "return visitors" or "repeat sales". If you offer something useful and continuously update your web site with useful and interesting information, people will come back!
They'll begin to see your site as an authority figure on the subject and will begin to trust you. By offering forums, chat, classifieds or a free newsletter you'll receive lifetime clients and buyers and that is where the real money and power is. Of course, these people are not to be taken advantage of because they will go elsewhere. Treat them with respect and really try to help them and you will reap the rewards!
4. A Web Site Is Like Real Estate
"What?", you say? Yes, you read that right! Purchasing your own domain name and building your own web site is like owning a virtual piece of property on the internet! Domain names are in high demand. Many of the good ones are going, and going fast! Claim your piece of "property" now and you will not regret it!
The web site you build will have value. As you receive more traffic from the search engines and build your business it will only continue to grow through the years! It is said that you can make a living off a web site with only 500 visitors per day. Now, this may sound like a huge number to achieve, but trust me when I say anyone can do it!
I have known of business who are pulling in $20,000 per month in revenue after just three years from their web sites. Why am I making this point? Well, I also know of site owners who have become tired, or want to retire and decide to sell their sites. Do you want to know how much they make from that sale? The general rule is that you can sell your site for 18 to 24 months worth of revenue averaged over the last three months. If your site is pulling in $20,000 per month, you could realistically sell it for anywhere from $360,000 to $480,000! Now do you see why I refer to a web site as virtual real estate? Buy your piece today!
Whether your home business involves affiliate programs, product sales or is an offline venture, you really should consider building a web site and showcase your skills and passion for just the reasons I've mentioned above.
