Work at Home Lifestyle Changes

Friday, March 30th, 2007

From Best Syndication:

There are many businesses that can be developed from home and operated out of your home. The trick is to select one that will be compatible with your home situation, your skill set and a home business that will generate sufficient income to support the lifestyle that you are looking for. We will examine a few of the lifestyle changes that you may want to consider for work at home businesses in this article.

The vast majority of people leave their homes every day to go to an office or some other location to work for the day. They fall into the routine of facing traffic, going to their place of work, chatting with colleagues, lunch with co-workers, coffee breaks and then heading home after work at the same time every day. Their pay check arrives every two weeks and their benefits are included as part of their salary. After 10 years, 15 years even 30 years, this routine has become pretty comfortable and the thought of not going to work is abhorrent.

Work at Home Baby Boomers

Friday, March 30th, 2007

From The Conservative Voice:

Nobody wants to feel like a bum or a slacker. Even though people in their fifties and sixties have worked and prospered all of their adult lives, when it comes time to retire many people get feelings of misgivings.

They have earned their retirement and leisure years, but the thought of doing nothing constructive leaves them disoriented and unsure about how they should proceed with their lives. For some the void can be filled with charitable or volunteer work. For others a monetary incentive is necessary to make them feel complete.

That’s when the specter of starting a new career, building their own business, or doing something on the Internet begins to look like a viable substitute for spending their later years in retirement.

Work at Home Chain Letter Ad Scams

Friday, March 30th, 2007

Every day, we receive calls from people asking about work-at-home ads they found in the newspaper.

Work-at-home con artists always have preyed most heavily upon senior citizens, the disabled, mothers who want to stay at home with their children, people with low income and few job skills, and people who just want to get rich quick.

Beware of falling prey to tempting work-at-home promotions that offer “easy money.” You could be at risk for some very bad consequences. Consumers have lost amounts ranging from $10 to $70,000, or more. You may throw away countless hours on worthless projects that cost you a lot of money to attempt and complete, but, in the end, give you nothing in return. You can involuntarily sell your customers (friends and family) terrible quality merchandise or nonexistent products and services. You can be held liable for perpetrating a fraud by deliberately or even unintentionally promoting and selling fraudulent products or services to others.

Recently, we’ve received a number of inquiries relating to chain letters. A chain letter consists of a message that attempts to induce the recipient to make a number of copies of the letter and pass them on to two or more new recipients. It usually includes names and addresses of several individuals whom you may or may not know. You are instructed to send a certain amount of money to the person at the top of the list, and then eliminate that name and add yours to the bottom. You are then instructed to mail copies of the letter to a few more individuals who will hopefully repeat the entire process. The letter claims that if the recipients of your letter follow the same procedure, your name will gradually move to the top of the list and you’ll receive money.

Work from Home Mom Success Story

Friday, March 30th, 2007

I became a stay at home Mom after the birth of my daughter. I was so enthusiastic when I took the decision to stay at home with her, not knowing how hard it will be. I was tired of the working outside the home routine, and was looking forward to this change of pace. I have been now staying at home for a little more than a year and a half. I have seen it all: from the overwhelming joy to the extreme exhaustion. Despite the hard work and dedication necessitated by the early parenting I am still enjoying being a full time stay at home Mom.

While each step of a child’s development has its own challenges, I personally think that the hardest to tackle are those during baby’s first year, thanks to their nature. Those challenges are physically demanding, not to mention financially. Now that my daughter has well past her first year, she is not even a baby any longer, I have more time to think about projects that I could do to contribute to my family’s earning.

A Mom starting a work at home during baby’s first year could find herself easily irritable. Babies are still very exigent and not quite independent from their principal care giver at such young age. I would suggest postponing working at home until your baby is at least fourteen month-old if the family can afford the wait.

Work-From-Home Jobs

Friday, March 30th, 2007

The Internet revolution has not only changed the way information is disbursed throughout the world, but also created many new and exciting job opportunities. The only problem about these job opportunities is that they are hard to find. There are many work at home job opportunities. You must have seen ads on the Internet that promote this work at home concept and also the good pay it entails. Hence the advantage of doing this kind of work on the Internet is that you could make a good living even while remaining at home and you won’t have to work for someone else.
You have to have a basic infrastructure if you intend to seriously pursue this work at home jobs. For this kind of work, you have to have access to your own computer and an Internet connection. The reason for this is most work at home job opportunities are so time bound that you cannot do without a fast and high-speed Internet access.

Another essential for working at home rather than taking another job, is knowing how to source assignments and projects for whatever area of work at home opportunities you have selected. The ideal solution would be registering with a company that acts as an agency, then vets and passes on the kinds of opportunities you’re looking for. Alternatively consider some sort of jobs database where buyers and provider both register their details securely and then a bidding process is enacted.

Why Your Not Making Money Online

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

The opportunity to make money online is so vast, yet so many people stumble and fall flat on their face. There really is no reason for this to happen. Below is a short list of questions you need to ask yourself if you’re not making any money online. If you answer no to any of these questions then you’ve most likely pinpointed why your not making any money.
1. Do you have a target audience?

Do you know who you’re marketing too? I’m mean specifics. Do you know their problems? Do you know what frustrats them? Do you know why your product or service fulfills their needs? If you don’t have a clear cut answer to this set of question then this should be a red flag. Study your market. Know who they are.

2. Do you have a product or service?

So many people get into affiliate marketing online because they see the opportunity to make money. They don’t know what they want to sell they just know that they want to make money. Do you know what you’re selling? Do you have a primary product that fulfills your target markets need? If not, stop and get one now.

3. Do you have a website?

It seems pretty stupid to ask this question, but some people overlook this glaringly simple detail. It’s very simple. If you do business online you need a website. If you don’t have a website go get one!

Successful Home Business Starts With Finding A Winning Company

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

For many network marketers this home business is like a religion to them. They like to argue about what company is THE BEST, about what product is THE BEST and about what compensation plan is THE BEST. The truth is that there is no ONE perfect company, there are many. And what appeals to you won’t appeal to everyone. This arguing would all be quite amusing if they weren’t so serious and if the topic didn’t derail so many businesses in the process. Keep in mind that during the average 3.5 year career of a network marketer less than 5% ever earn over $200 per month in net profit. Most don’t even break even.

This is a problem not with network marketing; after all we can parade success stories in front of you all day. We can also point to similar failures in other industries. No, this is ultimately a problem with the marketer. Lack of money, lack of knowledge and lack of skills are all fundamental factors in failure. What is often overlooked though, is the importance of having a good company to promote.

Understanding what it takes to find a winning network marketing program is critical, because that’s where it all begins. Make a poor choice here and it will haunt your entire marketing effort. No matter how good your marketing, if you have the wrong offer for your prospects, or the wrong offer for you, you will fail. I’m sorry to be that blunt but that’s simply a fact. Realize that “network marketing” is not a commodity. Realize that a “system” is not a business in and of itself. There are a lot of scams and pseudo-scams that focus not on what’s actually important in business, namely selling the product and/or service, but on the system. According to the FTC and legal precedence, this is a sure sign of trouble ahead. Just stop by the FTC’s web site (www.ftc.gov) and you’ll see a steady stream of scams the agency shuts down. Now, don’t get me wrong, a system is a fundamental part of a good network marketing business. The question you need to ask is, “Is the system all there is to this business?”

Work Multiple Home Businesses Without Losing Your Mind

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

Back many years ago-when being in a home business MLM meant you were either in Amway or Shaklee-there was only one way to work a program. You made your prospect list in the small spiral notebook that you carried everywhere- because you never knew when you’d remember the name of someone who wasn’t on your list yet! You wrote down everyone on your Christmas card list, anyone you did business with, all the names in your high school year book-yes, everyone you had ever known-including your mother-in-law (no-prejudging now!).
Then came the hard part. You called each name on your list to tell them you had something important that you needed their opinion on and was Tuesday or Thursday better for them? We NEVER gave any information over the phone! To understand this new marketing concept a person had to “see the plan”! Get those people and bring them to the meeting! Tell them that you’d be in their neighborhood anyway (OK, so they lived 30 miles from you) so you’d be happy to pick them up!

Then a man in a navy blue suit with a red tie (the woman in her pastel shirtwaist dress would be sitting on the side of the stage with a beauty pageant smile… and never take their eyes off of HIM! ). He would stand up and draw circles on a white board to show us how we too could be free and living on the beaches of the world! We’d all take notes and make encouraging, enthusiastic comments to our prospect… who was lost in that maze of circles we knew and loved so well.

Every politician in the entire country wants the U.S. economy to thrive. What better way than to support the engine that drives this economy: small business?

Small businesses provide 75% of net new jobs added to our economy, and they represent 99.7% of all employers. To see just how important we small entrepreneurs are, just look at this page: http://www.sbaonline.sba.gov/aboutsba/sbastats.html.

How Do Home Business Affiliate Programs Work

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

I am constantly being asked questions about joining Affiliate Programs. These programs are being hyped as the “next get-rich-quick scheme” on the Internet. That is not necessarily true… but the good news is that it is possible to make some very serious money with Affiliate Programs.

However Affiliate Programs aren’t for everybody, so I’m going to give you the inside information on who should join an Affiliate Program, and what you should be looking for if you do join.

Affiliate Programs are also called Associate Programs, Re-seller Programs, Commission or Pay-Per-Sale, Pay-Per-Click and Click-Through Programs.

Let’s talk about how Affiliate Programs work.

Basically Affiliate Programs reward website owners for referring customers to their business. Website owners are rewarded for sending customers to another website (of which you belong to an Associate Program for that website), and for any business (sales) which is generated from the customer who linked through your site to the other website.

The Power of Residual Income

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

It’s a fact: We all have a maximum of 24 hours a day, which limits the amount of sales an individual can personally generate. That’s why our top pick business also allows you to sponsor other affiliates and earn override commissions on their efforts, too. This is one of the most powerful advantages over other traditional, direct-selling methods. You see, success in conventional direct selling usually means you have to be a super salesman and sell huge amounts of product. Our top pick is just the opposite. Success in this business is about a lot of people each doing a little.

Also, unlike most traditional direct selling, this isn’t a job. On the contrary, it’s your own business to run as you like. And no matter when you join, you start out as and will always be the head of your own company. You’ll build your own network of independent affiliates and earn a percentage of their sales-yet each is a CEO in their own right, as you are, and each has the opportunity to build their own money-making networks under them.

What is Home Based Network Marketing?

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

Network marketing. We hear about it. We read about it. What is it really? Network marketing, simply put, is drawing upon the strength of others to build wealth for you and for them. It is not labor-intensive. So it doesn’t matter if you get up and go to work somewhere. It doesn’t depend upon your labor. It has a life of it’s own — similar to a business with employees. The difference is you don’t worry about bookkeeping or payroll. You do not have to sell something or work on an assembly line or anything else you don’t want to do.

If you do network marketing the right way you will have a steady fast-growing income whether you put in a lot of hours or not! There is simply no other way to have this sort of freedom.

With network marketing you have the benefits of owning your own business without the headaches. What more could you ask for?

Professionals Seeking Part-Time Work

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

Professionals seeking part-time opportunities generally look in vain for meaningful, well-paid positions. Jobs advertised as flexible tend to be scut work, entry level or work-at-home scams.

Take it from Jennifer Pultz: “The part-time jobs are not really career oriented.”

An environmental educator from Portland, Ore., Pultz left the work force when her sons were toddlers, figuring to return part time when they were in kindergarten. She’s been actively job hunting since hitting that milestone two years ago. “It’s so frustrating,” she says.

Enter the Internet. Several new Web sites — all launched since August — are matching talent with stimulating part-time, seasonal or project-based employment. The sites hope to serve older professionals who aren’t ready to fully retire, parents scaling back or returning to work, and even young singles who want time to pursue a hobby or entrepreneurial venture.

“There are so many qualified people out there that want to work but need the flexibility,” said Ilyse Shapiro of Wynnewood, Pa., who began MyPartTimePRO.com in February. Shapiro cites a June Gallup Poll finding that 51 percent of Americans would like to work part time before completely retiring.

Starting a Work at Home eBay Business

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

Many work at home businesses got their start from people cleaning out their attics and selling their surplus belongings on eBay. Even if you have never been to the eBay.com, you may be able to turn your clutter, crafts, hobbies, or interests into money by selling them on the site.

First, if you do not already have an eBay account, you will need to set one up. This is a relatively quick and painless process. Once you have an account, you will need to register as a seller. This involves submitting your checking account or credit card number for verification.

After you have become a verified member of eBay, you will need to decide what you are going to sell. Before spending money on inventory and marketing, do some research to see how many other people are selling similar items. It is possible to compete with other sellers on EBay, but it can be difficult when you are just starting out. If the market for your particular product is saturated, you may want to sell something else.

If you make unique crafts, candles, or other items, listing your wares will dramatically expand your customer base. People from all over the world shop on eBay and by adding your products to the mix you just might end up selling your homemade quilt to someone in Australia.

Entrepreneurs Attracted to Home Based Business

Sunday, March 25th, 2007

Jenna Bean loves pets, so much so that she has turned her appreciation of the four-legged creatures into a thriving home-based business as a pet sitter.

In two years, her client base has jumped from a handful to nearly 90 pet owners.

“This has just exploded,” said Bean, an animal-science major at Fresno State University. “One day I had 12 stops to make. It was crazy.”

Bean joins the growing ranks of home-based entrepreneurs who opt to run their own companies in nontraditional ways. For many, including Bean, home-based businesses are cheaper to operate, more flexible and easier to control.

Recent Census data show that almost half of the nation’s 23 million businesses are operated out of the home.

“We are running at about a 10 percent annual growth rate,” said Rudy Lewis, president of the National Association of Home Based Businesses, in Maryland.

“I really couldn’t do everything I am doing if I had an office,” said Bean, who likes having few overhead business costs. “But what’s scary is how fast this has grown. This was supposed to be a side job to earn some extra money; now I am working on a Web site and brochures.”

WI-FI Extends Work at Home Office

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

From Yahoo Tech:

Most days, I love working from home. Some days, I can’t stand it. This is one of those days, so I have done what I suspect many work-from-home parents who miss our offices of work days past sometimes do: I’ve sought refuge in a quick change of scenery.

I’m working from my town library today because I can. It’s a Wi-Fi hotspot, and there are lots of magazines, newspapers, and books around to inspire me between posts. Besides, my youngest has a half day of school today and two orthodontist appointments promise to eat up more of my daytime working hours. So, here, I figure I can ignore the breakfast dishes, the piles of laundry, bills to pay, and everything else staring me in the face at home besides my work. Often the bonus of working from home—being able to throw a load in the wash between calls, run the vacuum between posts, check the fridge for tonight’s dinner ingredients—is the bane of an uninterrupted stretch of work productivity.

Should You Start a Home Business Blog?

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

From Entrepreneur.com:

In just a few years, blogs have become a phenomenon. Every day, an estimated 175,000 new blogs and more than 1.6 million blog updates go online, according to Technorati, a blog tracking firm. As of late January 2007, Technorati was tracking 63.2 million blogs.

This explosive growth raises the question: Should your home business start a blog? I believe you should, if for no other reason than to take advantage of an effective marketing tool. In a recent survey of business technology marketing executives by research firm MarketingSherpa, blogs were voted the No. 4 tool for generating sales leads.

Like any other marketing tool, blogs are most effective when used properly. Here are some suggestions for successful blogging, plus some background for those who aren’t familiar with blogs.

The Backstory on Blogs
The word “blog'’ is derived from the term “web log.'’ In essence, a blog is a web page or site that’s part online journal–hence the term “log'’–and part open forum. Some bloggers post new updates constantly; others write updates weekly, monthly or only occasionally.

In most cases, blog entries are short and might include photos or links. Sometimes blog readers can post their reactions to the blogger’s entries. Other readers can then add their two cents to those comments, thereby continuing the dialogue.

The so-called blogosphere contains blogs on practically every conceivable topic. Some blogs exist on the website of an individual or business, while others are hosted on public blogging sites, like Blogger and Windows Live Spaces.

Perfect Home Business - Network Marketing

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

From Entrepreneur.com”

The basis of network marketing is building networks of people who buy and sell products. What better place to build a network of people than on the ultimate worldwide network–the internet? According to Internet World Stats, as of 2006, there were more than 1 billion people online worldwide. It’s no wonder that the internet is the place to go to build a network marketing business.

The benefits to building your business online are extensive–you can work in shorts and a T-shirt, you only talk with people who are highly interested, your business is working for you 24/7, your maintenance costs are low, and it’s easy to expand internationally. Most important, anyone can do it–you don’t have to be a computer genius to find success.

Your first step is to create an online presence. Before you begin building a site, you need a domain name. You could secure your personal identity site (yourname.com), which is always a good idea. Another approach is to pick a domain that relates to the name of your network marketing group or team, for instance, wealthteam.com or prosperitygroup.com. Or you might want a domain that says something intriguing, such as increaseyourwealth.com or massiveincome.com. Come up with a bunch of ideas, then check your choices on a registry site until you find one that’s available.

Once you have a domain, you’ll need to buy hosting services and then begin to build your site. If you don’t know how to design a site, you can either hire a designer or use a site builder that offers pre-made templates through your host. No matter which method you choose, your site should include the following:

Work at Home and Telecommuting on the Rise

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

From The Eagle Tribune:

Janice Vella’s two-hour commute from Salida, Calif. to San Jose, with frequent overnights at her mother’s house in the Bay Area, finally took its toll after a year and a half.

The travel agent walked into her boss’s office to quit, but instead was offered an alternative: telecommute full time from home. Same job, same pay.

Nearly eight years later, most of her clients can’t tell the difference, unless something unusual gives it away.

“That cat meow? Oh, someone brought a cat into the office today. Can you believe it?” Vella, 38, said about a sound that popped up in the background recently.

It’s difficult to determine how many workers telecommute, also called “telework,” which allows employees to work from home either part time or full time. But estimates show that the number is rising.

In 2003, about 7.4 million Americans worked from home during business hours at least one day a month, according to the Telework Coalition, a Washington-based advocacy group. The U.S. Census Bureau tallied 4.2 million telecommuters in 2000.

While most people who telecommute enjoy the freedom it provides, it isn’t for everyone, said Colleen Garton, author of “Managing Without Walls,” an advice book for managers who have telecommuting employees.

How to Stay Sane Working from Home

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

From Forbes:

The 25 million people in the U.S. who work from home fall into two categories: those who dread the idea of ever going into an office again and those who find themselves so lonely they talk to the plants.

Erica Orloff is in the first group. A novelist, she’s worked at home for years–going into an office never quite suited her. “I was always the woman putting on mascara in traffic and pantyhose in the parking lot,” says Orloff. “I find it difficult to adhere to that nine-to-five rhythm of the typical office.”

But even for Orloff, there are issues. Family intrusions. Loneliness. A work week that never ends.

“People who don’t work from home think I must have the cushiest life,” says Orloff. She cautions that it isn’t always so cushy, and to be successful, you need to have a strategy to make it work.

Logging all those hours at home can be isolating. Alicia Rockmore struggled with that when she started a home-based company three years ago. Until then, she always worked in a large office. When her daughter was born, she figured it was the perfect time to start her own business so she could spend more time with her.

Conversations with her infant daughter tended to be one-sided, and she craved interaction with co-workers. “Working from home was a huge adjustment,” says Rockmore, whose company, Buttoned Up, helps women better organize their lives. “You’re used to the stimulation of other people and casual contact.” Rockmore soon realized she’d have to schedule contact with other adults. She found other women who work from home and meets them for coffee and lunch breaks.

Internet Leverage and Your Work at Home Business

Monday, March 19th, 2007

Taking advantage of the internet can help you operate your work at home business with far more efficiency than was possible five years ago.

In fact, the biggest challenge for work at home operators is to keep up with the many new ways they can make the internet work for them. These days home-based businesses can send out e-mail blasts to their customer database – announcing a promotion or a new product – just as easily as any huge company. They can obtain merchant-bank authorization to accept credit cards online so they can conduct e-commerce; that wasn’t always the case.

And even work at home businesses can make themselves seem bigger than their local niche by setting up a website that positions themselves as an information resource on leaky faucets, or canine care.

Maybe Donna Maria Coles Johnson has found the ultimate application of the internet for her work at home business: getting away from her Washington, D.C.-area home and working from someplace that has a wi-fi hotspot. “I go to the local coffee shop a lot, and that’s where my daughter thinks that mommy works,” says Johnson, who is, among other things, author of several books on how people can make their own natural cosmetics. “Because of the internet, I can work anywhere and not be interrupted.”
